Hispanic Heritage Month Feature: Evelyn Rodriguez Mirrales

As a woman in technology, I love learning about the variety of amazing women paving their way successfully in STEM careers. Stories like this inspire me to work harder and to give back to STEM activities. As a fellow Latina and LatinX business owner, I am equally impressed when I learn of Latina women leading in STEM.
This week, JADEX features Evelyn Rodriguez Mirrales of Cararcas, Venezuela for Hispanic Heritage Month. Mirrales who now resides in the U.S., is a lead innovator in the Virtual Reality (VR) Laboratory at NASA. She holds an MBA in Business Administration in management of technology and two degrees in Computer Science and Computer Graphics.
It is said that when she was little she wanted to be an architect “to build something” in space. Her work has garnered respect and recognition in virtual reality software and flight software with awards such as, Outstanding Flight Software for Dynamic Onboard Ubiquitous Graphics (DOUG) and the Exceptional Award for Innovation for the creation and design of the Engineering DOUG Graphics for Exploration (EDGE) software.
What makes her special is not only her innovation in VR, but her contributions towards inspiring young women to pursue careers in STEM.
